As I see it, this infographic either means:
(a) Americans prefer whimsical imagery when committing food-suicide;
or
(b) All of these brands are still desperately searching for a credible answer to the Golden Arches after all these years…

iPad vs the World - Why Apple Wins

Harry McCracken at technologizer.com wonders when (or if) someone will introduce a credible competitor to the iPad.

And at TechCrunch, MG Siegler similarly asks when folks will understand that Apple’s approach to their core products — a synergy of form and software “soul” — gives them a consistent wind at their back when compared to their peer competitors.  Interestingly, Siegler suggests in his piece that HP might be a darkhorse candidate to take a run at Apple in a tech market future dominated by integrated product and software strategies:

One big exception may be HP. Despite their denials that they’re in the process of transforming their own business to be more like Apple’s, they are well, transforming their business to be more like Apple’s. With webOS now in place, they control the software (at least outside of PCs for now — but soon those too) and the hardware (not Apple-level yet, but you can be sure they’re working on it). Will that transformation work? Maybe. Maybe not. But give them credit for trying. At the very least, they seem to get it.

The other interesting takeaway here is that Siegler also emphasizes Tim Cook (Apple’s COO) in his role of managing Apple’s supply chains.  One of the reasons that Apple can innovate and price their products competitively is Cook’s incredible supply chain stewardship.  For what it’s worth, Cook himself is a HP corporate alum.
